Fruits Basket Volume 23 Released
So we finally have Volume 23 of Fruits Basket featuring Kyoko. I am glad she looks so happy, she must be thrilled with Kyo and Tohru's marriage. In anycase well folks this is the end of the fabulous Fruits Basket. The fanbook was also released as well. Anyhoo i feel sad and yet satisfied that we got a decent ending to our beloved fruits basket.

Hopefully once we can get our hands on some scans I'll post something about the Banquet Book. So far I know theres an Art section, full interview with Takaya, some "plays" that could possibly be manga inserts and a few contests.

Yay! Maybe someone will scanlate 136 sometime. I'd do it but it would take me a year, lol. Thanks for the vol. 23 update!

Someone has done it but to be honest the editing is pretty poor and the translation is too literal in places so it doesn't make sense gramatically. Now my coursework is finally finished I'll be focusing on the translation and finish it up. Then Magic can scanlate it for you all.

What about spoilers?
At 12:11 AM, Unknown said…
Well, I'm the one that posted about the spoilers.
Isn't it obvious?! You said Kyou and Touru were getting married. I just started reading Fruba this weekend and I finished it tonight. Oh, it was so touching. I cried at various parts of the manga, it was really good. Today, I wanted to know about the last chapter so I checked Wikipedia... I felt like I was getting ahead of myself and would get some spoilers, so I stopped reading.
Ultimately, I come to your blog and read about 136 being the last chapter... and in your tiniest of blurbs I read the ending of the story. Do you know what you cheating from a reader with that? Anything you felt about the story and how it moved you, that was dampered for me, because I read the ending in a blurb. Kyou and Touru, getting married.
What is up with that? Most people know to give a warning for spoilers or something like that. This blog is for anime stuff and the like, it's not so much a personal account of your life... why don't you have spoiler warnings?!?!? It's unethical really. You have to take these things into consideration.
"What about spoilers?"
"Wuaaa, nani?!"
Are you serious? Come on...
Frubas was an awesome read. God, I'm so in love with Kyou right now. I'll probably be thinking about him all week. Isn't there something completely wrong with this story? Just all the forms of abuse and 'perseverence'. There's a large glimpse into the Japanese psyche in this manga... at times I feel overwhelmed with how people still feel about love, abuse, pain, burdern, family relations... but it makes good eating. I really liked the book... er I mean manga.

Zomg.... I think me and my friend pretty much just hyperventalated for like a good 10 mins.... omg... anywho... I can NOT wait til they release it in english!

We don’t have spoiler warnings because if we did nearly every title of this blog would be “spoiler”; our blog is known for having the latest translations of Fruits Basket and therefore spoilers.
Though if you continued reading after reading the title of Otaku’s entry without realising there could be spoilers, it’s really your own fault. ^^;
I’ve already posted about the last chapter as well as scans so the fact the Tooru and Kyou get married isn’t a spoiler here at all which is why she didn’t mention anything about it being new info.
Not to mention the chapter is over three months old now, anywhere you go that is known for Furuba spoilers will have that fact. ^^; The blurb is so small because theres full translations for all the chapters of vol 23 already in past posts.
Sorry one image of the final page of the last chapter was spoiled for you, but if you don't want any more spoilers it's best not to come to our blog.

wow that girl got problems, she shouldn't read ur blog if she didn't want to know what was happening next....and then she complains, what a moron.

That was the stupidest post I have ever read. Seph san and Otaku san have been give us Fruits Basket tranlations for a while now. There blog is know for this, they always have announced there translation on Fruity group. If you are going searching for infomation on the last book the quite frankly expect to see spoilers. IT"S YOUR OWN DAMN FAULT...man whiners like you piss me off. Seph san Otaku san I for one appreciate your blog and though I may not comment on all the articles, I always read them. Thank you for the effort you ladies put in.

To be honest, I don't really care anymore. I'm not upset about Fruits Basket being spoiled. So, I'm over that. I'm more focused on what kind manga Fruits Basket was and why I had my reaction ot it.
As for you thinking my post was stupid? Well. I'd rather not make this into a personal matter. My comment was not trivial and it was honest. Whether or not anyone pays attention to it is up to the person. Usually though, it's common to hide spoilers. Especially if you're the distrubuter, as you said these two are... translaters and such? Didn't know, to be honest it doesn't make a difference and it definately doesn't make an excuse.
Do editors and publishers give away the ending to a book? Say it's ok because they take the time to edit and publish it? Spoiler is a spoiler. Hate to break it to you, but the people you're defending really did spoil the ending of Fruits Basket for a new comer to their blog. I hope one day websites will come with psychic-feeds so that a newbie can suddenly have the whereabouts of seasoned fan like yourself. Hm. Until then, you shouldn't blame me, heh? For not knowing about a little blog called Otaku Corner. Not knowing they'd have a spoiler. Not knowing they translate stuff. If I'd known, I wouldn't have read it. Same with wikipedia... I knew there were spoilers in that entry, so I stopped reading it.
Anyway. Yeah...

man girl calm down, you really are turning out to be the wuss here, your attack on otaku and seph is uncalled for. You won't find anyone here to defend your point of view because like the others have stated that this site is known for translations.
At 4:48 AM, Seph said…
It’s common for people to white out spoilers in threads and on forums that aren’t solely for spoilers. If we and other sites did that then all of our posts would be whited out.
I have to wonder why you continued reading after seeing the title though. It was quite obvious by Otaku’s title that it would contain spoilers about that volume. Editors and publishers don’t give the ending away to a book because it’s not out yet. As I’ve already said we’ve posted the last chapter already just a few entries down.
I’d be interested to know where you got our link from though, as most sites that link us mention that we have translations and summaries of the last chapters and Wiki aren’t going to keep a link up unless it’s got good info on the series. It’ll be good to let them know to put their Japanese release links separate from others.
As I’ve already said, sorry you ended up reading the ending but you could’ve read it on any other site that follows the Japanese release. We’re not going to white out the majority of posts and you’re not going to come here again so let’s just drop it.
And thankyou to everyone who replied. It’s really nice to see so many people that like our site so much to reply. (Though some were a little harsh.)
At 6:28 AM, Unknown said…
Well, I'm not asking you to white it out, just a considerate forewarning. I was thinking about it and I thought... maybe just the way you write about it. Make it more ambiuous. Anyway, you can run things how you want to run them. So, no problem.
I found your site from google when I looked up information on the last chapter. I was actually curious whether or not Fruits Basket had ended or not, because some Manga just don't end. I was hoping there was. So, that's how.
If you update a lot of stuff about bishounen or just cute manga, then I'll probably come back. I'm not spiteful. Omg, I want to read Absolute Boyfriend next... couldn't find it from my usual source though over IRC. I'll have to work on that one. I'm on Eyeshield 21 right now, the drawing quality of eyeshield 21 is pretty fantastic.
By the way, I wanted to ask you this... but I wanted this whole issue to blow over first... are you native speakers of Japanese or is it a language your studying? Just curious. Thanks.

Ah I see, Google tend to show a different page of ours each time. It's a good job you didn't click on the link to the translation of the last chapter instead!
Once my exams are over I'll hopefully be working on Ouran High School Host Club so be sure to look out for that.
It's just something I've learnt. I always used to look at the latest chapter of Furuba and other series but I was never able to read them. In the end I found a site that gives lessons and started learning from there. When I go to uni this September I'm hoping to finally take some classes so I can really start learning it seriously.
At 9:18 AM, Unknown said…
Ah, that's really neat. I'm learning Japanese too, that's why I was curious. That's pretty inspirational that you just started out on your own and have gotten this far already. Sometimes I feel so insecure about learning Japanese because it always feels like... I go no where for all the time I put into it... but in reality I know a lot more than I did when I started.
Maybe I could translate manga too... how do you usually do it? Do you have a kanji dictionary with you? ... I've been wanting an electronic dictionary. You know you can write a kanji into it?! That would be soo convenient.
At 11:53 AM, Seph said…
I was thinking that until the end of last year. It felt like I couldn't remember anything but then I realised I was starting to understand more of the songs on my MP3 and could start making my own sentences.
You should definitely give it a go, it's actually really fun to do.
I've got the Kodansha Kanji dictionary for learners (the learners one comes with a great look up system) but I really want an electronic one too. (I would buy one but I'm saving for the cons this year and just found two cute boys I want to buy.)
At 4:15 PM, Unknown said…
I've seen that one at my school library, actually. It's pretty great, the appendix with the look up system. You probably look up by radicals, huh? If I got a book I'd definately get that one for kanji. I've often seen pictural kanji learning books, but I just don't like them at all. I can't connect to the pictural form of learning. I'm not a visual learning, I like to study things on my own or learn by ear.
I live in San Diego... we have some pretty good conventions here. Comic Con... Didn't make it this year though. I missed out. I didn't want to go alone though. I have to save up some money too... either for the denshi jisho or the hon. Doing translation stuff would definately help me, because that's the way I learn best; doing things on my own.
When you say two cute boys... do you mean dolls? In your profile, I had to look up what that one word meant. Ball-joint dolls. Haha... otherwise I'd love to hear of a store that sells cute boys. I saw one at the trolley today, he really-really-really looked like an manga/anime character. He wasn't asian though, he's a skinney white boy, but his beanie made his blonde hair cover his face and it looked very mysterious. I realized... there really are people that look like those manga characters. I'd probably see more in a big city, huh?
...we've got quite a conversation going here. Going beyond 'comment.' I'm definately going to get some translation stuff and start doing that. I need an uncomplicated manga...
At 10:17 AM, Seph said…
Yep or sometimes Furigana if I recognise it but can't think of the meaning. I've never been a fan of the pictural ones either, I can just stare for ages but it doesn't sink in.
I'm in Bristol, in the south west of the UK. I'm missing some of the earlier cons due to my exams (if it wasn't for the fact these decide if I go to uni I'd miss them and go). Most of the cons are in cental England or above so it'll be like having lots of mini-holidays this year. I'm hoping to come over to Baltimore next year so I can go to Otakon.
Yep. ^^ I've gotten Korean dolls so far but the new ones I've seen are Chinese and amazingly cute. They're half the price the larger dolls normally are too (only $450!) so its not something to pass up on. Though it would be amazing if you could just go an buy a cute boy! (Kinda like Chobits of DOLL) If only we had Host Clubs here too.
We have haven't we! Such long posts. It's really useful as a learning device. Rather than just working through the activities classes give you, it gives you first hand practise at working with something that's not designed especially for learning the language. (In school I never found the text books helpful at all. It was just so dull and artificial it didn't help at all.)

ummm where can i find ch 136?
At 12:37 PM, Seph said…
Why do so many people hate Machi? I love her character so much and their relationship is my favourite out of the whole series. (But that's just me and I was never into the whole YukiRu pairing.)
Chapter 136 is on an earlier entry. I need to update it from yesterday but I've got just 15 more pages left to do which I'll work on when I get back from work for the next three days.
At 1:58 AM, Me said…
I must agree....their relationship is almost perfect, he's so OCD organized and she loves chaos, what better relationship is there?
I'm all for the two of them having a wonderfull life together....romantic sentiment over...
At 4:38 PM, Anonymous said…
so seph you're almost finished with right? Because now I'm confused xD I thought you hadn't but then I read and thought you had zomg maybe I'm just stupid lolol. Anyways just wondering you said 15 more pages right?
At 5:27 PM, Seph said…
Yep, you can check the progress on the post for 136 too. ^^ I've not updated in about two days though so it's a little behind.

Seph I remember you had a post of the thing you can translated on FB already...how do I access that post? @,@
At 12:44 PM, Seph said…
If you click on one of the older posts on the right of the blog it'll show even older ones before that. If people have trouble finding it one I'm done (hopefully tomorrow!) I'll post a little message with the link. ^^

hello, there! i just found your blog when i was wsearching for translations of the banquet fanbook..ah well, do you think u'll be able to scan/translate the fanbook anytime?
sukis, your blog is wonderful! ;)

I've read a little spoilers for chapter 136, and I found out that some people think that Yuki and Machi's daughter married Kyo and Tohru's son! I guess they think that because their granddaughter was holding a rat/mouse and cat plush. I just thought that meant that Yuki was still in Kyo and Tohru's lives. What do you think???

hey there! lol i went on a spending spree at an anime convention and bought 22 volumes (T_T they didnt have 23 dammit!) point being is do you know when volume 23 is released in australia/english speaking countries? yes i am essentric MWAHAHA >________<

Uwaa! So cuteee!
I only recently started reading Furuba but I've managed to catch up and read the final few chapters yesterday. Now I'm not sure if you still update this site but if you do, could you possibly tell me if you know how many volumes of Furuba have been released in the UK bookshops so far? I live in the UK, too :)
At 1:14 PM, Anonymous said…
omg ..... i was surprised that touchan's blonde friend didn't marry kyo and touchan didn't marry yuki but i would have probably picked kyo in a real life situation... anyways u hope they creat an extention to the video series and include the whole ending of the book. Right now it only is up to 26 episodes and you can find them at vidilife.com bye
At 6:15 PM, Anonymous said…
I just wanted to comment and say that a similar thing happened to me like with daniel. I wanted to know when the series would end, because I seriously collect Furuba manga and in my country its not cheap! so I wanted some reassurance that I wouldnt still be buying them 10yrs from now O_O
so I just searched and your page was one that came up. and I too read ahead. I mean theres no way you can not read the paragraph under the heading. But I'm not mad or anything, I've gotten spoilers before so its rly ok. I just thought ppl should understand that its an easy mistake for a newcomer to make. reading the battle comments (lol) I was totally neutral because I understood where both sides were coming from.
anyhoo thanks! 23 volumes. I can manage that. (unlike naruto which I gave up on after I got to #11 and realized they were on #28 and nowhere near stopping) =/
