I got first some digicam scans and then some good scans, you should go on the fruity group, they have it there,(but I don't know if you can share those ones, anycase you can read them, I found no probs with those) I already summarized this chapter and I found it disappointing for one big reason: while all the others learned how to live happily together, Kyo and Tooru closed themselves to the others.
Yuki's speech to Tooru was moving, he said that everyday of their life they would think about her hoping she was happy...but IMHO, Tooru didn't do that in resturn, she was just so busy thinking about her little world with Kyo that all the others were left outside her happy life...
This saddened me a lot.

OMG IM GONNA CRY!!!! I really am! I loved it! Fruits Basket is over! i cant believe it! exactly a year ago i got into it and now its has ended. i like the contents i thought it was so sweet! So it ends. Ahh... thanks so much for the scans. From what I see it is sugary sweet coated. An overview of the charcters and their respective couples. Although I did dislike the flashback scenes. I am unsure of a couple of the people I saw there! I did see my Ritsu with short hair.... but who was he with? I believe it kind of what you expect from a shojo manga, yet I wish the end pages were a little clearer...

I think Komogomo is funny.I think it's cool that Takaya-sensei started a series that is run on comic strips. I still question whether or not it has a true plot or if it's just like Calvin and Hobbs and doesn't really have an ending.
When I saw the last page of Furuba, I felt empty. Not all the way empty, but I was still sad that it ended. Now I have to find another series!

Hey Seph I have an off topic question, but hoped you'd answer it. Awhile ago I clciked on a link of someone's photobucket account and it directly sent me to the pictures they had there. But, now when click on the link or paste it for that matter it sends to me to the same page as yours which is password protected.

That's not their child. They had a son. The little girl is their grandaughter. She calls Tohru and Kyo "Kyo-kun and Tohru-kun" but her mother (assuming they've had just one child its their son's wife) tells her to call them grandmother etc.
I hope to start translating this chapter thursday providing my teachers don't give me any more work. T.T
(Ended up staying home today to get it all done for tomorrow.)

*cries* it's over. (well not really since you guys say there's gonna be a fanbook and hopefully have extra stuff on what happened to everyone later). But still it made me cry from the little Japanese I could understand. Tears in my eyes, no manga has made me cry like Furuba.
Also I feel a little cheated though that I didn't get to know what happened with Momiji and his mom and sister. Unless I missed it. Did his mom ever know about him in the end? Or did he at least get to be with his sister (I think I do remember seeing a chapter where he realized Momo knew about him and he told her who he really was.) But I also wanted to see his mom realize...And Momiji was barely in the end of the fic as it is. He just made a few appearances here and there (same with Ristu and some others but still, out of all the stories and who ends with who and has a happy ending, Momiji is the only one unfinished imo).
Sorry for the rant I was just confused.
And since I also thought it was there daughter and one pic was of Tooru with her parents I need to go back and check it over again. So that pic of them walking away was them already as senior citizens?
Hopefully with your translations we'll better understand Seph-sama ^.^ But don't do them if they stress you out. Take your time! <3

I don't think they're that old. Considering the lack of lines on Toru's face when we see her for the last time I think it's safe to say she followed Kyoko and had her son quite young.
Yeah sadly Momiji never told his mother or his sister about his relationship with them. The last we say of his family was after he was freed and his mum told him they were going away for the holidays. I really would've liked to see him tell at least Momo when she was older. I'm possitive she would've understood.
I'm hoping to start the translation on Friday. I've not had a day without homework yet but its slowly going down and now I've got non-blurry scans it should be easier.

Yeah I was really disapointed at how heavily it focused on KyoRu at the end. It would've been nice to see them all together as adults or at least see if Momiji was ever able to tell Momo. The whole Ren/Akito showdown was just a dsiapointment for me too, it was completely avoided.

I got very good scans so as soon as I got them I zoomed in on the last page and got a real good look at the rectangular picture in the *family* photo section. On the left is a woman with wavy black hair and on the right is a blonde woman with a short A-line haircut. Next to the blonde on the right is a man bending over and patting a kids hair.
I was depressed at first because on the small scans I couldn't see anythin of Arisa or Saki. I thought it strange that Tohru wouldn't keep her best friends in her memories. But *I* beleive that the woman with wavy hair is Hana and the blonde is Arisa. Between them is their families.
It just wouldn't make sense for her not to keep SOMETHING of the two friends who always supported and protected her. And I beleive she also considered those two as family.
I had to have good scans and I zoomed in 2X's but it looks to me that even if it's not with Shishou, Hana DID end up with someone ^ ^
If it was with Shishou it would explain why Kyo and Tohru's family live at Shigure's old place. . .

I can't see the man you're talking about. From the left I see the woman with black hair that is likely Hana, a man, a woman, a child, and the blonde with the short hair.
I think it's likely to be Hana, Kyo, Tohru, their son, and Uo.
If it were their families it would be a little strange for Uo to be considerably taller than Kureno. We know Tohru and Hana used to be about the same height which works with the other two women and Uo was taller than both except Kyo which also works. It would've been helpful if they'd been drawn with faces. Its a little sad there isn't a photo of the other Sohma's too.
Tohru and Kyo probably live there because no one else has a need for it. If you think, Shigure is with Akito so they'd be at the main house. Yuki would be with Machi so they're probably living together somewhere so that just leaves Kyo and Tohru,

mind yo u it took a *lot* of zooming, maybe some wishful thinking hehehe. . .between the wedding picture frame and arisa there is a man bent down with his arm extended toward a child. his hand is on the boy's shoulder and the child "appears" to be looking toward the man. The arm is across Arisa's chest in a diagonal and the man's hair is sort of under Arisa's chin indicating that it's a much taller man bending toward the child (kureno)?
Maybe the little boy is Kyoru's son and he's taking a picture with the extended family?
It would make sense if he's shy around Arisa and Kureno, perhaps he doesn't see them often? The taller boy in the middle looks alot (ie. has the same exact hair ^^) as the tall man next to Hana. I don't think the boy is Kyo 'cause the boy is the same height as Hana, but looks like the tall man. . .
Of course only Takaya knows and she may elaborate on the picture in the future fanbook ^_^
Of course this is probably because I hate the thought of Hana and Arisa remaining spinsters. ..
Anyway that was my own impression.

Oh I see how it could be an arm. I'm pretty sure its shading though like in the other photos (their sons leg for example).
I meant the person right next to Hana, the tallest one in the photo. The third one from the left is likely to be Tohru.
Hopefully we'll get some insight on who she ends up with in the fan book. It would be nice if she was with Kazuma but I can't see it happening.
I want to see some more of the other Sohma's in the future too.
What shocked me the most was that Yuki wasn't in the photos anywhere.
What's your opinion on the two top photos? I'm wondering if its their son and his wife or his wife and their child?

well I think Takaya sensei deliberately did a "see what you want to see" sort of thing. Kinda like that picture where some people see a young lady and others see an old crone ^ ^.
Some people didn't even see Hana and Arisa and thought Tohru dissed her best friend all together. I think the red hat is Tohrus memory of Yuki. I'll just assume he admitted to her that it was him sometime in the future.
I am starting to think Takaya- sensei made Hana and Arisa visible in the pictures and let fans imagine who the others are. The person by the tall man looks like a boy to me 'cause he/she has really short hair and he's Hana's height. But it could just as easily be Tohru with a REALLY tight ponytail, side bangs, and she grew bit taller (Hana was always taller). I also noted that Arisa is standing a little away from the Hana group and if it were Tohru Arisa would be much closer.The picture is cut off as well so ther could be other beside Arisa and the small boy appears to be looking in that direction.
I think the top two photos are Kyoru's son. The right when he was a toddler and the left when he was a bigger child and the large oval when he's going to highschool maybe.
I though the bottom picture was a picture of Kyoru's son with the "family". Remember Kyo and Tohru were closest to Saki, Arisa, and Kazuma more than anyone else, so the kid thinks of them as Aunts, and Grandfather most likely.
Of course I like happy endings so I'm ficcing about Kagura and Momiji getting together (they have the same tastes in backpacks). I even over analyzed kyouru's son's wife's hair and thought it similar to Yuki's hehe, and the fact that the granddaughter was playing with a cat AND a mouse, so fanfiction writers get plenty of cute ideas to work with.

Yeah the lack of faces was definitely deliberate. The wife and all the people in the picture appart from Kyo and Tohru in winter and Kyoko and Katsuya all lack faces.
It would be interesting if she was related to Yuki and Machi, her hair reminded me of a mix of the two.
Adult KyoRu's son looks a big like Katsuya too which is nice.

Yeah I was really disapointed the Aki/Ren showdown was completely avoided and Aki decided to just let it drop.

I found that (in the last page)in the pic. of (what I assume is) KyoRu in winter, over by Kyo, if you look at his arm, there may be a little head, because there's a little white spot and Kyo's arm shape changes the tiny-est little bit by the white "spot", making the appearence of very dark hair!!! That's just how I saw it anyway.
I agree with what someone said earlier about Momiji and Kagura getting together, that'd be fun.
I also think Kyo looks realy weird in a Shishou kind-of outfit, but I still think he's the best!!! I am part of the unofficial Year of the Cat Fan Club (yes, I have no life ;^) I thought is was a nice thing that they kept the beads on the memory-display-thingy to remind them of the past.......I wonder if they ever told their son about it......or would he just not believe it......or did they tell it to him in a fairy-tale-like fasion so he wouldn't believe it.......I wonder?????
Can you believe that Akito is actualy starting to look like a girl?? To me, she'll always be the incredibly p-o'd guy that hates all girls and is incredibly protective of the Sohma guys........I remember before Arisa was with Kureno and before you knew Akito was a guy, we saw Kureno kiss Akito and the first thought that went through my mind was "OMG's, Kureno's GAY!!!!!" but later was proven wrong, which made me take a sigh of relief......

Well I looked, and that white spot zoomed in real close looks like an open hand. Like the smaller person was waving 'cause the thumb part and fingers had the proportions of a hand. I think maybe the winter picture may be Kyoru's son and their grandaughter as opposed to Kyoru. That picture was fairly large (compared to the others) so Takaya-sensei (I think) would have put the toning in for Kyo's hair she used throughout the manga.And the small person in the picture looks *really* childish and has short hair (like a manga toddler).
I think the whole set up was to give readers a look into their lives throughout the years. I think
it also shows that Tohru includes her childs memories as important. I think the pictures also show age progression throughout the years. . .Son is a toddler. . .son is a child. . .sons is in or graduated high school. . . son get's married (I dont think it's kyoru . .don't kill me. . ). . .son has a child of their own. . .Boom their Grandparents.
Which also makes me think what about Kazuma and the Friends (Uo and Hana) Everyone else gets a memory slot-

You take very nice pictures with uniform lighting so there aren't any shadows. I'd definitely join photo club. I'm not sure how your club would work, but my club would have field work where we'd go to places like San Francisco and have a "scavenger hunt" where we would search for subjects throughout the city based on a list. It was fun!

It's definitely something fun to do with a group of friends. Any place, even a local park would do. I like to take up-close shots of insects, leaves, flowers etc. Photography can be so much fun and your imagination and creativity would be in use.

i STRONGLY believe
the mom is yuki/machi's daughter(looks a lot like machi, hair sort of like yukis)
and dad is kyo/tohru's son (we already know that) and it
is also obvious because the granddaughter IS playing with a cat

Hopefully, my dad's coming with me instead of my mum because she'll probably be unable to travel. (She had a quad bypass that didn't work two years ago so has to take it easy.)

As for the woman being Yuki'Machi's girl, I think its a definite possibility. I remember I said earlier how she looked a lot like them so I'm definitely leaning towards her being their daughter. It would really work well with the little girl holding both the rat and the cat too.

Don't worry, I didn't take it in that way. I meant December, I was extremely busy last year with coursework so was unable to start working on the translation until after the 19th. As you can see though ^^ it's coming along pretty well but I'm just going to move back onto 135 to finish that up for a little while.
For those of you who remember my comment about getting a Kodansha dictionary the next time I went shopping; I went today and I was disapointed to find the last copy had already been sold. T.T I was hoping to get it to help speed up work on the last two chapters as it had a lot of new kanji in there I've not seen yet but it wasn't there. It's on order though so my dad said he'd go and get it for me as soon as its in. (Yay!)

Congratulations! I got an A in Crit Thinking, C in english (only a few marks off a B T.T) and a C for geography. I'm doing a retake for geog to get a couple more points. Right now though I'm rushing to get my psychology coursework done. ><
And a quick update.
Kyouko is on the cover of volume 23! The Banquet fanbooks also been released. It has Tooru, neko Kyou and nezumi Yuki on the cover. It should contain artwork from Takaya, hopefully more mini stories (it says plays so I'm not sure if its manga or just script.) and an interview from Takaya. As soon as I get scans I'll post them!

Got some updates concerning the fanbook now.
It seems there isn't any alternate endings in the Banquet book. Vol 23 is the average length so they're not included in that either. There's also no new artwork in the art insert for the fanbook and no group photo. The only manga insert is one that seems to focus mostly on Shigure's fantasies. There's fan-voted contests such as best couple, chapter and character. Overall, I'm a little disapointed by this second fanbook so far. I was looking forward to at least some single page out-takes like last time. Hopefully there'll be some interesting things brought up in the interview but without any scans I can't say for sure either way.

I am extremely mystified by the translated dialogue between a good number of the characters, lol. I am particularly in favor of Shigure X Akito (which got very little airtime, and the Ren confrontation heh uh got forgotten apparently ^^; ) Can anyone shed some light on the meaning of Shigure and Akito's conversation? I suppose I am having difficulty seeing who is saying what, from looking at the manga scans alongside the (excellent) translation here. Why does he call her a cunning child? All I know is they're married and it appears one of them is telling the other to stop playing at get ready for Tohru and Kyo's sendoff????

Shigure begins by saying that he wants to go play now their jobs are done in town. Akito tells him he should go home and work instead because tomorrow he'll be going to see off Tooru and Kyou so anything that needs doing he should try to get done today (or he won't have time for it tomorrow).
Shigure thens asks Akito if she's really not going to see them off and she confirms it because when she feels like seeing them, she'll just go see them.
Shigure then asks if he'll have to go along with her when she wants to visit them and from her smile I'd say that's a yes. So he calls her a cunning child. (Becuase then he'll get to see them too)
They're not married yet though, though its a sure thing in the future.

Ah thank you very much (this is the same person that asked the complicated Akkigure question ^.^). And no, it's not that confusing, it's just me being unable to see where the little bubbles are pointing in the actual manga scans, lol.
That's surprising actually. REALLY surprising, about Akito not going to the sendoff. I have difficulty understanding why she'd not want to go say her goodbyes, considering she and Tohru became SO close, and she no longer views Kyo as a monster--and time has clearly passed with the assumption that they would only get closer.
Perhaps Akki has difficulties with goodbyes, or feels that she would make it too uneasy for the others because they're still a little afraid of her? Or perhaps she feels that saying goodbye in such a contrived fashion would be upsetting and unnecessary, since she'll be going to visit them anyway??? Hmmm.
I guess I shouldn't be TOO disappointed by that, considering the other implications are that she 1) will travel a great distance just to see Tohru and Kyo "when she wants to," since they're going away to some distant dojo of Kazuma's, and 2)that her sly smile implies her impending marriage to Shigure, as does his sly question. That's so typical of them lol. I do wish they'd had a longer scene, but at least that one was quite representative of their relationship. I feel the same way, actually, about Hatori and Mayuko's scene. And I do miss seeing Momiji and Momo reconciling. I suppose this final chapter is a case of "let the viewer draw his/her own conclusions." The plot climax did come, after all, already, in chapters 130-131. So. Yeah lol.

Hey Seph are u from Iowa cause uni ( you said in one of your earlier comments) is in iowa if so i; am from iowa and also i love the furba series i think i just finished the 17 book. The library didn't have anymore and i don't know where to look have any suggestions. I am probley the youngest Furba fan on this site i am 12. I have a few friends that love it too. My favorite characters are Kyo and Shigure. I also like Thoru and Hana. Hana is my fave girl character cause she is goth and i am eco goth. I really liked the part where kyo turns into his true form and yuki and thoru look for him. I barrowed the first 26 episodes of the series at my library, they only had s. 1. sad :( i wish they had more. Sorry for a longish comment. Bye

I like the happy ending, but:
Even though Momiji's curse was broken very soon, even though he's willing to stay a grade behind in order to meet his little sister Momo, there isn't a single scene showing Momiji playing with her and in the end, we never know whether or not Momiji shall be recognized by his mother and sister. What a big frustration!!
- It would've been better if all the "how's the weather?" or "what's for dinner?" junk dialogues were bypassed.
- The reason Akito allowed an outsider like Tooru to keep her memories isn't convincing. I was expecting something deep & scheming.
